Microchipping
Services-microchipping
We provide ResQ Microchip implantation, a permanent way to identify your pet. This is a small chip that is injected under the animal’s skin using a needle. The owner then goes online and registers their pet and can update the contact information. The animal’s number is stored in a national database. The microchip can be read by a scanner that most humane societies, police stations, and veterinary clinics have if an animal is brought in after being found.

Veterinarians encourage having your animal microchipped, and with good reason—microchipping substantially increases the likelihood of a pet returning home by offering secure, reliable, unique and permanent identification.
Here are a few statistics:
• Only about 22 percent of lost dogs that entered animal shelters were reunited with their families. However, the return-to-owner rate for microchipped dogs was over 52 percent.

• Less than 2 percent of lost cats that entered animal shelters were reunited with their families. The return-to-owner rate for microchipped cats was dramatically higher at over 38 percent.
